Apple have released the first beta of iOS 4.3 for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.
The new beta allows users to pinch to access the home screen, to swipe up to reveal the multitasking tray, and swipe left and right to switch between open applications.
The beta also allows iPad owners to choose whether the switch on the side of the device acts as a mute or activates the screen orientation lock as it did before iOS 4.2 was launched.
It looks as though iPhone 3G support could be dropped with this version, as there is no mention of that device on the beta download page.
There’ll be further updates as soon as we hear more!
According to Kevin Rose, a blogger well known for his accurate predictions of Apple releases, the iPad 2 launch announcement will possibly be on Tuesday 1st February.
What do you want to see on the next iPad?
Welcome to the site!
I’m not sure when I first realised how big Apple had become. Throughout most of the 90s they had been mostly written off as a major player in the tech industry.
But then the iMac G3 came along, which was a watershed moment. Then iPod. And a flurry of other products which have changed our perceptions and expectations. Owning and using Apple hardware is now seen as a status symbol, and its customers are in a unique place where they pity others who don’t have the latest MacBook or iPhone.
It’s now clear to everyone Apple is a dominant force in the technology industry.
So join me, as we enjoy more exciting tech from Apple in 2011. You’ll find all the latest Apple rumours and news right here. We’re in for an exciting ride!
